Angola Expedition : Guidelines for this trip

Revised: November 28, 2011 Tags:

We will pass through three provinces

The upcoming Angola expedition will pass through three provinces in Angola, namely Cunene, Huila and finally Cuanda Cubango provinces.

Challenges to deal with

There are however a few challenges that we as a small group of overland travelers do have to deal with:

  • Patience at border crossings
  • Limits imposed on tourists to photograph certain buildings and people
  • Bad roads—slow average speeds
  • Long hours of travelling on certain stretches
  • Basic camping conditions i.e. no ablution facilities as we camp in the bush in Angola
  • Possibility of not reaching planned camping sites in good time due to the rain damage of certain roads

Respect the feelings of the locals

We will find that the government officials, administrators, police and locals are all very friendly towards us.

There is still sensitivity in some of the areas where the many years of civil and bush wars took place. We do need to respect the feelings and sensitivities of the local people.

Beautiful country with breathtaking scenery

On the other hand, the good news is that you will experience an unforgettable expedition in a beautiful country with breathtaking scenery and unbelievably friendly people. Angola is one of the few African countries that one can still explore in safety.
