Continual work in progress.

This website for the 61 Mech Veterans Association must be regarded as a continual work in progress, starting with these humble beginnings and expanding as and when new members join the Veterans Association and submit their stories, photos and/or other relevant documents.

The first members of the Veterans Association will be able to monitor the evolution of the website, from the initial accounts recorded by the former commanders to the stories and photos submitted by the other veterans.

Submit as many stories as you wish.

You are welcome to submit as many stories as you can recount about the operations you took part in or other experiences you had during your time with 61 Mech.

How to share your stories for operations.

For each different operation you will find a tag on the member’s site on which you can click to submit , either a story or a photo for that specific operation.Complete the relevant information required ,type your story in the alloted space and press the submit button for your story to be sent to the 61 Mech admin page for publication on the website against that specific operation.

Choose one subject per story.

It is important that you indicate the subject of your story relating to that operation clearly, and each story that you share must focus on that specific subject. It is preferable to share a number of short stories dealing with specific topics than one long general story.

How to share your photo’s for operations.

You can also share photos for each specific operation by clicking on the tag designed for that purpose at the bottom of the commander’s narrative for that operation.This will open a facility which will allow you to automatically select a photo from your PC for submission. You can view the photo’s that have been submitted already for that operation , by clicking on the Gallery tag.

Context of the photo is important.

The caption to the photo is important and it will add a lot of value if the context of the photo is disclosed as well. Where people appear on such a photo, the names of the appearers are essential because we have all changed a lot since the days those photos were taken.

Same principles for submission of stories and photo’s relating to events during your year of service.

The same principles will apply when you share your stories and photos about the events that happened in your specific year of service, outside of the operations.

Consent that your stories and photo’s may be used in the 61 Mech book or books to be published.

Please note that by submitting you stories and photo’s for the operations and years during your term of service, you also consent that these stories and photo’s may be harvested and used in the book or books that will eventually be published on the history of 61 Mech.
