The Second Golf day in Gauteng on Friday 23 August 2013 hosted by the 61 Mech Veterans Association at the Killarney Country Club in Houghton

Revised: July 21, 2013 Tags:

61 Mech Battalion Group, one of the finest fighting units in South Africa’s military history, was founded in 1979 and existed for 27 years until it was disbanded in 2005. More than 900 of the veterans who served with this unit during those years already joined the 61 Mech Veterans Association, which is also a member of the Council of Military Veterans’ Organization of South Africa, and the association is actively involved in preserving the military heritage of this unique unit.

You are hereby invited to support the second golf day in Gauteng hosted by the Johannesburg East Rand combat team of the 61 Mech Veterans Association at the Killarney Country Club.

The purpose of this golf day is to raise funds for the 61 Mech Battalion Group book project, where we have commissioned Helmoed Röhmer-Heitman, Willem Steenkamp and Leopold Scholtz to write a book recording the history of our proud unit which will be published by international publishers Helion Publishing. A portion of the funds raised will go towards our Veterans Outreach Program designed to assist our veterans who might be in need of physical, emotional or financial support.

We have to rely mainly on the subscription fees of our veterans and supporters together with whatever support we can receive from the public to finance our projects

You are welcome to participate in this golf day in one or more of the following ways:

1. Entering a four ball — R1 800. This includes green fees and half way house
2. Sponsorship of a Tee or Green — R1 000
3. Sponsorship of watering holes — golfers get very thirsty
4. Donating prizes and/or cash. (No donation too small)
5. Sponsor caps, goodie bags, half way house, golf balls etc.

All sponsors will be publicly acknowledged in our programme on the day and at the prize giving ceremony. Sponsors of holes, tee-boxes, greens and prizes will also be able to display banners and hand out marketing material on the day.

Thank you for considering our invitation. We look forward to your participation and hope this will establish a mutually beneficial relationship.
