Description
The M3 is the basic battalion level indirect support weapon for battalion sized formations in the South African Army. It has served for many years and has been fitted to a wide range of mobile platforms, most notably the Ratel 81. It is provided with a wide range of ammunition and has a respectable range especially if extended range ammunition is used. It is however in the process of being replaced in service by long range 60mm mortars with improved ammunition.
